The closest Picrew alternative is Meiker: it also hosts character makers drawn by many different artists, and you can play them and download the picture without an account. Neka works the same way with Chinese makers, and CHARAT is the one to try if you want polished anime avatars with no ads.
We opened every site below on October 30, 2026, logged out, made an avatar and saved it, on a computer and at phone width. Picrew is in the table too, for comparison. The last three makers are on this site, and we say so where they appear.

None of them asked for an account before we could save; only Neka keeps its high-resolution export behind a login. On Picrew, Meiker and Neka the picture size and art style change from maker to maker, so the sizes above are from the one maker we tried on each.
Why people look for a Picrew alternative
The reasons in Reddit threads about this are practical. One person's school had blocked Picrew. Another kept getting an error, probably because of a VPN. Others wanted art styles Picrew makers rarely draw, such as more masculine characters. And Picrew now often shows a "watch a short ad" screen and a full-screen video ad before a maker opens.
The sites below cover each of those cases: a different domain, a different set of artists, or fewer ads.
Makers by many artists, like Picrew
Meiker
Meiker is the alternative people recommend most: it came up in more of the threads and forum posts we read than any other site. Like Picrew, it hosts makers that artists upload, from anime busts to full-body dress-up games. It is also a free tool for building your own maker from a layered drawing.
You do not need an account to play a maker or press Download; Meiker's terms say an account is only needed to publish a game. Our test picture came out at 900 by 1200 pixels with only the artist's signature, no Meiker mark. The trade-off is weight: a video ad played before the maker, the page had several ad slots, and the maker we tried took about 45 seconds to load. It works at phone width.
Neka
Neka (捏咔) is a Chinese platform for character makers, with many anime-style busts and full-body makers that rarely show up on Picrew. The interface is in Chinese only, so you will be clicking icons more than reading.
The camera button shows the finished picture, 1128 by 1128 pixels in our test, and you right-click or long-press it to save. The high-resolution export needs a login. Makers took 30 seconds to over a minute and a half to load. Each maker lists its own rules, and some artists sell a commercial license or extra parts.
Makers from one studio
CHARAT
CHARAT is not a platform: one studio draws about 15 makers of its own, including cute busts, full-body characters, chibi characters, furry characters and a PNGTuber maker. The style is polished Japanese anime, and the interface comes in 16 languages.
We saw no ads. The free download is 800 by 800 pixels, on white or a transparent background, with a small "(C) CHARAT" mark. A 2000 by 2000 version costs 10 USD. CHARAT also has the clearest written rules of any site here: its guideline page allows social media icons and many personal and small commercial uses, and bans selling the image, stock sites, AI training and NFTs.
Doll Divine
Doll Divine has run dress-up games since 2002. Its Picrew-style makers page collects anime avatar makers in English, built on the Meiker engine. A skippable video ad played before our maker, and the download was 1200 by 1200 pixels with the artist's and Doll Divine's signature on it. The site has a phone layout; we did not finish a maker at phone size.
Azalea's Dolls
Azalea's Dolls makes painted, semi-realistic dress-up games, closer to fashion and fantasy illustration than to Picrew's cartoon busts. Most of its games are full-body dress-up; its Profile Avatar maker draws a side-view face. The site has no phone layout, the pages carry several ads, and the game canvas shows the Azalea's Dolls logo.
Makers on this site
These three are ours. They are smaller than the sites above: each is one maker with one art style, but none of them needs an account, and the picture downloads straight away.
Oval Face Generator
Chibi Character Maker- The Cute Avatar Maker is the closest to Picrew in feel: you tap through cute bust parts on a phone or a computer, recolor whichever hairstyle you pick, and save a 1024 by 1024 PNG.
- The Chibi Character Maker dresses a small anime character from head to toe and saves a 256 by 256 PNG.
- The Oval Face Generator makes a flat, round-faced bust from the same artist as the original square face game, whose oval face maker was already suggested as a Picrew alternative in a 2020 Reddit thread. It saves a 256 by 256 PNG.
The Chibi Character Maker and the Oval Face Generator are classic games made for a mouse, so they are easier on a computer. Their 2013 artist allows the pictures as icons and avatars for non-commercial use.
Check the rules before you use the picture
Every one of these sites leaves the drawings with the artist, so the picture you save comes with rules. On Picrew, Meiker and Neka each maker sets its own, usually on the maker page: many allow a profile picture with credit and ban commercial use and cropping out the signature. CHARAT writes one rule set for all its makers. If you want the picture for anything beyond your own profile, read that page first.
FAQ
Is there a Picrew alternative without ads?
CHARAT showed no ads in our test. Picrew, Meiker, Neka, Doll Divine and Azalea's Dolls showed banners, a video ad, or both, and the makers on this site sit on pages with Google ads.
Is there a site like Picrew in English?
Picrew itself has an English menu, but many of its makers have Japanese or Korean titles. Meiker, CHARAT, Doll Divine and Azalea's Dolls all have English interfaces. Doll Divine's Picrew-style page was made for people who want that look with English menus.
What can I use instead of Picrew if it is blocked?
Any site in the table runs on a different domain. Meiker is the closest match to how Picrew works, and the Cute Avatar Maker on this site works on a phone with no account.
Picrew alternatives, in short
For the Picrew experience on another site, use Meiker. For anime avatars without ads, use CHARAT. For a quick cute avatar on your phone with no sign-up, open the Cute Avatar Maker, and if you want a picture that reads well as a small icon, what makes a good pfp has the checks to run before you upload it.
